«а fragmentа» is a deconstruction, firstly, of the collective image of a woman with attractive appearance, and secondly, of the real image of the bodies of real women. The goal of deconstruction is to search for personal identity. This process is largely intuitive and occurs automatically.

Each doll is assembled from layers and intersections of different details so that, in the end, it not only does not correspond to the standard of attractive (or unattractive) appearance, but does not even have the correct shape or a «stable» silhouette. The doll is an «unstable» «fluid» female image with initially sharp contradictions, which ultimately find themselves in dialectical unity, combining into a dynamic whole.

The project was presented at the exhibition «Borderline Environments» at the CСI Factory in Moscow in 2024.
EXPOSITION

Eight paper dolls are attached to thin aluminum rods of varying heights.
The dolls are assembled on nails and are potentially movable. However, they are fixed in place without movement. The possibility of movement is conveyed by the moving shadows of the dolls. The video of the moving shadows was recorded in advance and is projected onto the wall behind the dolls.
Photographs from the opening of the exhibition Borderline Environments at CСI Fabrika.
Photographer: Tanya Sushenkova.
The dolls were made from my collection of fashion magazines from the Soviet and post-Soviet space spanning the last 70 years.
