CONNECTION ATTEMPT
2023

Collage

42 x 59 cm

The starting point for the collage was a video circulating on the internet, where macro photography shows how a neuron moves in search of connections with other neurons, attempting to create these connections. In the brain, neural connections arise as a result of human interaction with the outside world, and it can be said that ultimately these connections make us who we are.

The image of a searching neuron is my image as an artist. An artist is like a lonely neuron in search of connection, and I am such a neuron. Therefore, I assemble it from my photos, deconstructing my physical image and using its fragments as material.

I focus on the parts of the body that are important for communication—the hands and eyes—to show the immaterial essence. What is important in the image of a neuron is that, on the one hand, it is separate and active/functioning, but on the other hand, a neuron is completely meaningless without connection, because it exists precisely to connect with others, to create connections.
