ARTIST STATEMENT

For me, memory is the substrate of identity. Applying my experience as an archaeologist to my archives and fragments that carry other people's stories and evidence of the past, I seek to show identity in its fluid, tense unity. Collage is my central method, and working with fragments is a way to comprehend the whole as a reassembled structure, where personal and cultural traces form temporary connections. In my practice, physical, mental, and digital spaces exist in a unified phygital continuum. By moving objects of loss into the digital world and back again, I capture the processes of disappearance of things, memories, and representations—and at the same time create new forms of presence where identity manifests itself through dynamic unity.
